2010 has seen some top United States roasters raise coffee retail prices as high as 13% since May, hitting a 12-year high. They blame the price hike on sustained increases in green coffee costs and poor crop production. J.M. Smucker Company upped the list price for most of its Folgers, Dunkin' Donuts, Millstone and Folgers Gourmet Selections coffees. Kraft Foods, Inc followed suit raising the list price on certain Maxwell House, Yuban ground and instant coffees. Not surprising to many, despite the increase in cost there are reports that global demand for coffee is increasing.
